Two Vauxhall Angling Club open matches were fished in quick succession over the last two weeks on the Radwell stretch of the River Great Ouse.
In both cases the fish were found in patches so some anglers did well and some had a bad day.
The first match winners were as follows:
1st Neil Shern 24 lbs 13 ozs
2nd Bruce McChesney 18 lbs 7ozs
3rd Nigel Bass 10 lbs 10ozs
4th Graham Cakebread 8lbs 3ozs
5th Peter Hawley 7 lbs 15ozs
6th Kevin Osborne 7 lbs 13 ozs
14 fished in all for a total weight in excess of 85lbs.
Both Neil and Bruce bagged up on dace. Nigel’s 3rd place was secured with 2 chub one weighing in at 6lbs 4ozs.
As word spreads about the quality of fishing on this stretch of the river the second match attracted 22 angler to the venue. Good top weights again.

3rd Terry Noble 13 lbs 1oz
4th Neil Shern 9 lbs
5th Buster Matthews 8 lbs 15ozs
6th Gary Spavins 8 lbs 10ozs
Mick won this match with a bountiful mix of good quality roach. Terry Noble took just 3 chub to make up his third place win! Overall weight 112 lbs
November’s Match on the Manor Lake at Tingrith was fished on a cold wet windy day with clearing water. 12 mad souls turned out to fish and the results were:
1st John Clennett 54lbs 7ozs
2nd Brian Wood 40lbs 10ozs
3rd Gary Page 35lbs 4 ozs
4th Tex Marshall 35lbs 1oz
5th D.Agnew 34lbs 10ozs
6th Warren Downie 33lbs 8ozs
The overall weight was 336 lbs 14ozs which is still not bad for a cold autumn day!
